It's Official

It's official. Anyone who knows me knew this day was coming, and many have wondered what has taken so long. Over the holidays, I have finally passed one more milestone on my journey to riduculousness.

I have passed 1,000 DVDs. My 1,000th DVD is the original King Kong which is a pretty cool one for that milestone. Much better than Kronk's New Grove, which was purchased on the same day.

So there you have it. I'm nuts.

oh man... I just passed the 300 mark. I'm so far behind.

What's the physical life of a DVD like? Won't they degrade over time? Become unreadable?

What counts as 1 DVD? Does a 6-disc box set count as 1? What about Toy Story/Toy Story 2 combo pack? I must know!!!

How is the original KK?

I keep count in DVDProfiler based on Collection Number and not it's internal count. This is importnat to recognize because, the way mine is setup, a boxset of 2 movies would be count as 3 by DVDProfiler, 1 for the box and one for each movie. By removing the collection number from the box, I can count each individual movie. Therefore TV shows are counted as 1 per release (Each season of Star Trek is 1 DVD and Sports Night, THe Complete Series is 1 DVD) and boxsets are counted based on number of moives (Toy Story is 2, King Kong Collection is 3 and Kubrick is 9, 8 movies and a documentary)

I actually haven't watched Kong yet. Still have 43 movies in my unwatched pile (but hey, that's only 4.3% :))
