Damnit - I lost my post and Blogger is pissing me off and not working correctly right now

I lost my post. Damnit. SO here's a basic update of what I wrote, and I'm not going to recreate:

Daily Show 5/17-5/18 - Good

Amazing Race - Finale - Hippies Win, good.

Music

Fall Out Boy - Didn't want to like From Under the Cork Tree but did. I had a much more in-depth review, but it was lost.

Yeah, I've had that album for about 8 months now. Really enjoyed. Would be curious about your thoughts.

Here's the gist of what my review was before it got lost. I LIKE punk/pop, like Blink and Good Charlotte. I think Simple Plan might be the worst band of all time, complete and total repetitive, derivative crap. Fall Out Boy is put into these categories, and because of their musical style, I would agree a little bit, but I really think that the lyrics WHEN you can understand them at least or can read them with the music, are a lot deeper than anything GC has ever made. They much more of an "emo" (another term I hate) band based on lyrics alone.

I thought that the "sound" of the album wasn't very good. Compared to their earlier release, 2002's Evening Out with your Girlfriend, which wasn't as tight but seemed like it was played with a lot of energy, From Under The Cork Tree sounded overproduced but that's normal for a major label release and one reason I'm a big indie fan. Except for the vocals which can be, at times, unintelligible, which is not a good thing.

I'd probably give it a solid 3 or 3.5 out of 5 if I was rating. I was expecting to not like it at all though, simply because I've lost a lot of faith in the radio over the last 10 years and was expecting it to be much more like a Simple Plan type band.

I, for one, can separate my feelings for punk (old-school style, Sex Pistols, Ramones, etc), Punk-revival (see NOFX, older Alkaline Trio, etc) and Pop-Punk (Blink, GC and apparently Fall Out Boy) and like all the genres. This is one of the better CDs I've heard that's had tracks on the radio in the past few years, though. It's not great, but it definitely isn't bad either.

Probably should quantify my thoughts of the lyrics being deeper. By that, I meant that they probably put more energy into the TITLES of the songs on this CD that Good Charolete did in writing the whole album. Not a bash on GC, like I said, I like their album, but, lyrically, I just think FoB is head and shoulders above them. Or it could just be the pop-culture references in their music :)
