I'm baaaaaaaaack

Sorry this took so long to post. I even had it ready to go yesterday and forgot. My apologies. Oh, and the trip was a blast.

The Daily Show - 4/27 - Robin Williams is the guest star, and he's always funny. Otherwise a funny episode but nothing really special.

HDTV & Home Theater Podcast 4/28 - Ehh. First time listening to this podcast, and I probably won't bother again. It isn't bad, but the tech news they talk about I already read elsewhere. I downloaded it to listen to them talk about the Mac as a HT Computer, since I just got an Intel based Mini for my birthday.

TWIT - Episode 52 - Talked alot abount next-gen gaming systems. The Wii from Nintendo (pronouced We and the dumbest name I've ever seen. Ever.) and HD-DVD on the Xbox 360. Yeah, I'll probably get a 360 when I can get a HD drive. Oh, and a PLaystation 3 when I can get BlueRay. Fun times. Interesting discussion about what the highest download numbers are for the different video codecs of diggnation and dl.tv.

Geekdrome - Episode 23 - Jon tells a funny story about having sex and then going back to reading comics. Otherwise, good episode with good info. I want to see American Dreamz, but will probably wait for the DVD.

CrankyGeeks - Episode 7 - Wow, 4 guys who can't agree on what a good TV looks like. Get what looks good to you.

Daily Show - 5/1 - Special Guest, forget his name, sorry. A young republican who wrote a book about how the Republican Party is corrupt. I really liked him, though, very articulate and honest. Oh, and a special Da Vinci Code edition of This Week in God, funny stuff.

Sopranos - Johnny Cakes - AJ starts to realize what being a Soprano means, both in terms of the perks and the drawbacks. Also he gets arrested for trying to kill Junior. Tony is tempted to cheat on Carmella again yet something hold him back this time, a newfound morality, perhaps, or just self-concious about his scar? More foreshadowing of problems within Tonys Crew in the future. One of the best episodes this season.

Grey's Anatomy - Blues for Sister Someone - Alex keeps getting in trouble for not keeping his mouth shut, so we'll see what happens to him in the future. His character has gone downhill since Izzy broke it off with him. Interesting message about not working all the time in life, as that may be the problem with life. Pretty good episode, with many funny lines of dialogue.

Music Reviews:

Mumps - How I Saved the World - This is a weird band from the late 70's. They're kinda pop/punk/glam rock all in one. You hear Bowie, Ramones and Queen all in one package. Pretty good album though, released in 2005 and is apparently a re-release of an album from the 90s that was a repackage of album(s) from the late 70s. Got that? Anyway this isn't for everyone, but I do recommend giving it a listen if you want to try something a little different.

Let's Go Bowling - Freeway Lanes - Does 3rd Wave Ska Revival take you back to spring days in the college dorm? Or perhaps it was playing on CDs or your first MP3 player on your twice a week commute from Newark, DE to Marlton/Medford, NJ? Just me, oh. Anyway, I just got this album from Lets Go Bowling, an act on Asian Man Records. It's a collection of live songs with really good production quality and is pretty good, if somewhat repetitive, ska revival.

Punchline - Punchline - It's a pop-punk/emo record, not bad. Parts of it remind me of older Blink, back before they sucked. I'll need to listen to it a few more times, but initial impressions are pretty good.
