Back to work Monday after a nice weekend
The Colbert Report - 7/27 - Landis talk, yeah, Colbert thinks he has high levels of testosterone because he's American. The Word is Secretary-General Bolton - yeah, that guy is crazy and why the hell is he our UN ambassador? He then interviewed the congresswoman of The District of Columbia who can't vote because she's not from a State. A guy from Marvel comics is the special guest and he was pretty good.
I also watched a pretty funny Ask a Ninja where he talks about movies and Star Wars in particular. Pretty good.
Dane Cook's Tourgasm - Episode 7 - The tour finishes with a Q&A at Dane Cook's high school in Massachusetts and then a show at Boston U. They played Minigolf in this episode too. Probably my least favorite episode, the guys were too much into reminiscing about the show, which is good and all, but bring the funny.
Chris Angel:Mindfreak - Metamorphosis - Chris Angel does his very cool, very fast, metamorphosis trick, which was neat, but unfortunatly the Pyrotechnics were set too high and he burned himself and his assistant a bit. Also a pretty neat little bit with that dude that paints all the olives. If you've seen his work you know what I'm talking about.
Mythbusters - Killer Whirlpool - There's two myths in this one (shocker, there are usually two) the first is the name of the show, Killer Whirlpool where they attempt to prove or disprove that a naturally occuring whirlpool in the ocean could sink a ship. They bust that it can sink a ship, but say that it could easily kill a person, at least the really bigs ones can. They also bust the myth that a car can be overturned by a snow plow traveling at a high rate of speed by blowing it over. Yeah, there isn't enough airflow, at least not that I could see.
We then watched Final Destination 3, my review of which you can see at The Film Critic.
*** Book Review ***
Holy Blood, Holy Grail - Michael Baigent, Richard Leigh, Henry Lincoln - I must preface this review by disclosing that I LOVE conspiracy theories. The deeper the theory, the more I like it. So it really is no surprise that I liked this book and liked it a lot. It's a well documented, well articulated argument that it is POSSIBLE (and it is never claimed as fact and is repeatedly said, many many times that it is just an hypothesis of what might have happened) that Jesus was married and had at least one child and has a surviving bloodline today. However, I'm in no position to make a reasonable decision as to if their conclusions are true or not, but it is a very good story.
*** Play Review ***
Spamalot - Went and saw Spamalot in NYC this weekend. It was excellent, the songs were really funny and the play itself was hillarious. Although, I thought the play was at its best when it deviated or had new material from the movie. The major problem is that the funny parts of the movie are funny, but you've already seen them. I've seen the Knights who say Ni and the Black Knight and all of those skits already, so they weren't any funnier when done live. But the new stuff that was added is really good. Interesting tidbit - I finished the book reviewed above, about the Holy Grail, on the train ride home from a comedic play about the search for the Holy Grail. Weird.

Isn't "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" the book that Dan Brown supposedly based much of "The DaVinci Code" on? Isn't the name of one of the authors similar to the name of one of the character in the book? Or something like that. Anyway, yeah, I heard it was good. Honestly, I couldn't care less if Jesus had kids - it would have been expected of him in his day. Why that idea bothers people is beyond me.
Yeah, that's the book. One of the arguments that they made in the book was IF Jesus was the son of God sent to Earth to experience the human condition (paraphrasing) wouldn't getting married and having kids be a large part of that?
