Ashlee F'n Simpson

Okay, to continue talking about music, my third love (Movies and TV are first, and I'm only talkin' Entertainment love here. Video games/computers are up on that list. I like books too. Hmm, too much entertainment too little time.)

Fuck you Ashlee. You're a no talent ass-clown and you know it. And to blame your band on the fact that you can't sing and have to lip-sync is just atrocious.

Everyone reading this should know what I'm talking about, but in case you don't, Ashlee screwed up on SNL Saturday Night. Why she gets to be the "musical" guest of that show is beyond me, but hey, I'm no program director.

Anyway, she apparently sung her first song, "Pieces of Me"(I think) without a hitch. Some people commented on the fact that she looked like she wasn't really singing during that song either, but I can't comment, I didn't see it. But I did see the second performance, and boy was it a doosey. Didn't get a chance to see it? No worries, due to the power of the Internet, I have it for you:

The band tried their best, look at them. They know there is a screwup and they try their BEST to cover it up by playing the first song again. They were professional. You, AHSLEE, decided to blame your talentless screwup on guys that didn't do anything wrong. You suck.

Proof she blamed the band? Got that too:

Hopefully her career goes the way of the Dodo. Or Milli Vanilli. The less of these "musicians" or "artists" in the business the better off society will be. Remember, kids, supporting Ashlee Simpson funds terrorism.

2 posts in 2 days

Must be some kind of record. Oh, again, wait, that's normal.

I mentioned to someone yesterday the basic topic of my blog for today. It's about an album that I've been listening to non-stop, pretty much. I listen to a LOT of music, all day every day. I belong to a music download service (I actually pay to download music, www.emusic.com) And my tastes are pretty eclectic. I don't like Rap I don't like Country (most country at least) and I don't love Top 40 (except for a few bands/songs) but the album I'm listening has a hit single AND I've liked the band for a long time.

The band is Green Day and the album is American Idiot. I liked Green Day back in the day, loved Dookie and liked their earlier stuff 1039 and Kerplunk. Nimrod and Insomniac had me "ehh" and Warning was okay. But American Idiot is amazing.

It's a punk concept album. It has two (count 'em TWO) 9 minute punk songs on it. And the lyrics are pretty amazing. Billy Joe Armstrong talks about how fucked up our nation is, not just from a political standpoint, but how messed up our values, ambitions, etc. etc. are. It follows a trio of characters, Jesus of Suburbia, St. Jimmy and Whatshername through their travels and interactions. It's a rock opera. A punk rock opera.

Green Day gets unfairly, IMO, railed for being the first big punk/pop crossover and spawning bands such as Good Charlotte, Sum 41, etc (bands I enjoy listening to but wish they would stop calling themselves punk) and even worse "artists" such as Ashley Simpson and Avril La(whatever her last name is.) Green Day has been doing this longer than those bands have even been playing music and their style has changed from pretty formulaic neo-punk to something new and more mature. Billy Joe said he wanted to make a different album after seeing what had become of the music he loved and now he has created something that's pretty amazing.

Even if you aren't a fan of the style of music or the band, if you get a chance, give this album a listen. With it being a Rock Opera, though, in order to fully enjoy it, you have to listen to it from start to finish, preferably more than once. I know I have.

Less than a month!

Woo-hoo! Less than a month since my last post! Oh wait, that isn't a good thing.

I wanted to let all of my faithful readers (if there is still anyone out there reading, I know I wouldn't be) know about one of the coolest sites I've been to recently.

www.musicplasma.com

It's a visual search engine of musical artists. It shows you similar artists and links them together. It's kind hard to explain, just check it out for yourself, it's pretty neat.

It isn't the greatest search engine ever, Kristen and I have found some wierd glitches and some other strange things (apparently the guys that wrote this absolutly LOVE Niel Young and Radiohead, their circles are HUGE)

And not to sound like someone from the South or anything, but "Damn it was good to see those Yanks get beat up on last night"

Oh, yeah, if you want to get a hold of me the next couple of weeks, good luck. I just got Tony Hawk Underground 2 in, I'll be pretty busy.
