Caught up with ITC and PA, so back to normal.

P.S. (well not P.S. as this is a pre-script) this is a two-day post, the atom server hasn't been letting me access it all day.

dl.tv - Episode 88 - Starts off with some news, my favorite is that the PS3 hasn't even started production, which apparently is still going on sale in November.  Lots of good talk about extended warranties.  I don't buy them.  While it sucks the one time my plan needs to be put into effect, I figured that if I don't buy the warranty on anything, I'm ahead even if I had to replace something in 2 years.

dl.tv - Episode 89 - A giant video card with a huge heatsink, kinda cool looking.  DV Nation has lent the guys a notebook to check out, with flash drives, awesome!  Some emusic talk which is always good, emusic rocks.

Diggnation - Episode 60 - Wow, the intro was in a weird stereo, actually the whole episode might be in this type of stereo.  Not sure if I like it or not, because I wear headphones.  They're going really cheap on the beers, with the good 'ole Miller High Life (in 24 oz beers.)  ITMS might start offering lossless files for a bit more.  I still won't buy it from them because I don't buy DRM'd music.  An old video of Russian Scientists keeping a dogs head alive, which is very sad.  Japan is feeling the pressure of their new 100 mb/s INTERNET connection, which is ridiculous.

Geekdrome - Episode 40 - They have a forum member in the audience again today, this seems to be a weekly thing that this happens.  A new intro (same song, but some cool graphics.)  They didn't have as much fun at Snakes on a Plane as I did, which is unfortunate.  I about feel out of my chair when Dan got tackled again during the taping of the show.  Lace was wondering what I was laughing about.

Crankygeeks - Episode 24 - Microsoft approached the Mozilla developers to make sure that Firefox works with Vista.  Pure PR move.  Exploding batteries talk, fun stuff.  John thinks that teen buying booze online is a planted story by the liquor control industry that wants to prevent buying alcohol online so they can control it.

Command-N - Episode 59 - Mike is very excited about a new show called Gold Rush that Mark Brunette is producing.  Apparently it's a treasure-hunt style show, but I'm not sure if everyone is involved in searching for it or not, we'll see.  Blackberries are starting to be banned from some meetings because they're such a attention-grabber.

Inked - Mud, Sweat & Tears - Carey doesn't know how to play poker, yet plays in a celebrity charity event anyway (and is the first out in the entire field.)  Also, Dizzle mud wrestles with Katie, then treats her like an ass.  He's kinda a dick.

Inked - Surf & Murph - H & H are expanding to Hawaii.  Matt is doing some racing.  This wasn't my favorite episode, though, because they didn't do much tatooing in this episode and some of their stories are why this show is interesting.

Hrmm, won't let me post last night or this morning, so you get two days in one!

dl.tv - Mermon notebooks, very cool (well, actually, very hot).  They spoke to a lawyer about the note they got last episode about a cease and desist letter from an ISP for file sharing.  Also Paint.Net a replacement for MSPaint and almost as good as photoshop and free.

Lot of Blade

The Colbert Report - Stephen takes on Georgia claiming South Carolina has better peaches.  It's still Crumbelivable.  The Word is Bad Boys, proving that woman don't make good choices when it comes to men (always going to the bad-ass instead of the nice guy.)  Wow, there are some very talented people out there, the Green Screen challenge was very impressive.

Real Time with Bill Mahr - This is a pretty good show (especially if you lean left and/or just hate Bush.)  They had one very pro-Bush republican on the show and he at least made interesting (if wrong :)) points.  New Rules was pretty good as well.

So Lace and I watched 4 episodes of the Blade series, and I'm going to review them as one lump sum.  This is one complicated show, lots of characters and lots of plot lines but they blend really well.  I can't wait to see where they take this show over the rest of the season!  You never know who is good and who is bad and which side anyone is on (or how many sides are in this show anyways.)  The one thing that is somewhat annoying, though, is that they'll develop some story lines (like the Vampire Ash) and then just drop it.  Maybe it'll come back in a few episodes, who knows.

Wow! Look at all that STUFF!

The Colbert Report - 8-21 - Wow, an AWESOME lightsaber green screen fight.  And Stephen issues the Green Screen challenge.  The Word is Side Effects - the government wants to loosen restrictions on testing medicine on prisoners.  Then a Threat Down.  Geoffery Nunberg is the special guest and he's a Linguist who wrote a book called "Talking Right: How Conservatives Turned Liberalism into a Tax-Raising,
Latte-Drinking, Sushi-Eating, Volvo-Driving, New York Times-Reading,
Body-Piercing, Hollywood-Loving, Left-Wing Freak Show."  That's a great great title for a book.

The Daily Show - 8/22 - Bush cuts his vacation short because the Middle East is in deep crisis.  Wait, haven't they been fighting for like 1000 years or something?  I always think that it's funny when Stewart starts talking to the audience.  Wow, Bush is really starting to feel pressure he's taking to arguing with news reporters in the White House.  Larry Wilmore is the Daily Show's new Senior Black Correspondent.  William Cohen, an Ex Secretary of Defense is the special guest.

The Colbert Report - 8/22 - Umm, yeah sorry.  I was only listening to this while programming so it was in one out the other (ear that is.)

The Daily Show - 8/23 - Yeah, so well, at least I paid attention when Back in Black is on :)  The special guest was a a guy who wrote a book called The Decency Wars which he claims that the war on Decency and the fight back from the right is a money making issue.  Interesting.

The Daily Show - 8/24 - It's sad to see Rob Cordry go.  I didn't really like him at first, but he really grew on my and I thought he was one of the best correspondents.  And who is going to do This Week in God now that Stephen has his own show and Rob is leaving?  Martin Short was the special guest and I guess he was funny.

Inked - The Hot Seat - Carey gets the guys together for a murderball sponsor and they play some murderball (wheelchair rugby) with some real players and get clobbered.  Carey also rides in a super-moto-cross race, his first race in 2 years and crashes, but feels okay about it.

Mythbusters - Crimes and Myth-demeanors 2 - The guys tackle a bunch of myths about security systems, can a thermal sensor be beat by a neoprene suit or mud (no) but it can by glass.  A motion sensor can be beat by a bedsheet.  And they blow up a safe "The Score" style.

Eureka -
Invincible - The big problem this week is a guy that accidentally turned on the rest of his brain (using the theory that only 10% of a human brain is being used.)  He finds out that Nathan is hiding something in Section 5 as well.  This was an okay episode, and I liked  when the Sherif and the girl look like they spent the night together, something's going to happen there.

Eureka - Dr. Nobel - Fargo and Spencer accidentally set off a doomsday device while clearing an office.  They need to use Dr. IT to figure out how to shut it off, which they're not sure how to do.  Oh, the doomsday device bounces a radiated laser off a mirror on the moon to work, awesome.  Quite a funny episode actually.

Prison Break - Manhunt - The first episode of the new season in which we find out how a show called Prison Break will last in a second season with no prison.  One pretty shocking moment when someone who you weren't expecting to die gets killed.  Pretty good season opener.

Psych - Shawn vs. The Red Phantom - Shawn and Gus go to a comi-con to track down a missing person.  Also at this convention others go missing and Shawn again "proves" his powers, this time with the help of The Magic Head.  I like this show, it's quite funny.

Blade - The Evil Within - okay, in all honesty I was falling in and out of sleep on this episode.  It had nothing to do with the show, which is good or even this episode, which I saw of it was good.  It's just that I'm dead tired and need to go to bed.  It was a long weekend.

**** Beer Review ****

Dog Fish Head 120 min IPA - Oh, fricken, wow.  I've wanted to try this beer for a while now and Canals finally had some bottles.  It's really expensive so I only bought one (it's almost $9 a 12 oz bottle.)  The package says that it's one for the hop heads, does it live up to its claim?  It pours a deep golden color with a very very large, frothy head.  The beer is very very sweet, almost sickneingly so.  It's no surprise that this beer is between 20 and 22% alcohol.  There are quite a bit of hop aroma and flavor, but, honestly, I expected more hops.  Which is weird knowing how they make the beer, but still, I've had much much hoppier beers before.  It's almost too much, but honestly, I didn't pour it into the right glass, I drank out of a pint glass and I probably should have put it in a snifter.  If I ever buy another bottle of this, I'll probably share it with a friend, pouring half into a snifter or tulip glass which should let the hop aroma out even more.  If you're a "BIG" beer fan, you should give it a try, but don't get your hopes quite as high as mine were because you might be let down a bit.

Stone Brewing Company - Ruination IPA - They say that this beer will ruin your taste buds because it's so bitter and so hoppy.  Does it live up to it's claim?  YES - and my god is this a great beer if you're a hop-head.  Light Golden color with a very nice head on it and just great tastes of hoppiness and some alcohol.  Great beer, but you couldn't drink more than one or two a night.  22 oz bottle which is just about right for this beer.

YALD - Yet Another Light Day

Still catching up on ITC and PA stuff.  Sorry for the lack of cool stuff, but I did watch some stuff after work which has some reviews below.

But one of the ITCs that I listened to today was very interesting (Mesh Forum 2006 specifically ITC.MeshForum2006-AnilDash-2006.05.07)  What was interesting was the part where they were talking about an audience for a podcast or a blog.  My blog audience is seriously no-one but myself and if others WANT to see what I'm watching or listening to or music or beer reviews or whatever, they're more than welcome to take a look and leave a comment.  I encourage it, but seriously, if you aren't witting it for yourself, for whatever reason, what good is it and if you didn't know me personally, why would you care at all???

The Daily Show - 8/21 - Wow, the 24 hour news stations are stupid of the Jon Benet Ramsey case again.  Yeah, I know I'm a bit old on these shows so the news isn't going to be that topical, but still.  Oh, wait, I'm only 3 days old, this is a 10 YEAR old story.  Rob Corddry reports from a toilet.  Samantha Bee reports about Snakes on a Plane!!!  Hell-Yeah!  "Could it Muthafuckin Happen Here?"  Classic and with a special appearance by Samuel L. Jackson himself.  I didn't catch the speical Guests name, but he seemed pretty intelligent and wrote a book explaining why the situation is so messed up in the Middle East.

Ctrl-Alt-Chicken - Bananas Foster - Mmmm, another desert.  This time it's a sunday with Bananas and alcohol, what's not to like?  Actually this is the second IPTV show that I've seen make Bananas Foster in the past month or so, the other being Basic Brewing Video.  Weird, huh?

Treasure Hunters - Finale - Yeah, a big let down.  Why did they need to drag this to two shows?  Just to have the reunion?  It's like the figured out how to make it like Survivor but suckier.  I'm okay with who won and I am glad the last clue was really hard to get.

Beer Nutz - Vancouver - The guys go to Vancouver to drink some beer.  A pretty standard episode, these episodes are all becomming about the same, but I'll still watch them.

Three Sheetz - Belize - Okay, Zane had to drink a rum that had a snake in it (Viper Rum) and was on a quest to find Cashew Wine.  Very funny episode and one guy did a line of cayenne pepper, that was nuts.  I enjoyed this episode a lot though.

Umm yeah

Yeah, so I suck and didn't watch or listen to anything yesterday except some very old Podcast Academy and IT Conversations stuff.  I didn't even get to watch Treasure Hunters.  But I won't leave you completely empty handed:

YouTube - Parking mix - Fricken Awesome!!!

Going to be slow for a few days.

Pimp My Ride - Monte Carlo - Yeah, this is the way to start off a day, a Pimp my Ride of ridiculousness.  That show is so dumb, yet I still watch it.

Geekdrome - Episode 39 - Both Jon and Dan like Accepted, which I want to see and Dan compares it to a Ferris Bueller's Day Off type movie.  There is one movie that looks interesting 13 Tzameti.  Dan's not a huge fan of Transformers, which is sad.  I hope they never play another voicemail message because you couldn't hear it.  There was another forum poster as a special guest in the studio.  She was okay.

I'm catching up on The Podcast Academy and IT Conversations, so it might be a while before I start updating with them all because some of these are over a year old, so I'm not going to bother posting a review of each one.  My regularly scheduled viewing will also be interrupted during this time, so forgive me if it's a bit on the slow side for the next few days.

Pretty light day

FLOSS Weekly - Episode 11 - The special guest is Guido van Rossum who created Python (a scripting language) another language that I've never used, and probably should one of these days.  In fact, if I wasn't already programming (pretty fluently I might add) in 3 or 4 different languages, I'd maybe check it out and pick it up.  Some of the ways it handles things (like strict whitespace formatting) seem really nice.

FLOSS Weekly - Episode 12 - The special guest is Rasmus Lerdorf who created php. I've done some php stuff and the language is good, I like it.  But I do more Microsoft based stuff than php stuff, not due tot he language at all, just because that's what my company uses.

Crankygeeks - Episode 23 - Google gives away free WiFi to a city, which is pretty interesting.  We'll see what Google is going to do with this in the long run, Google might become an ISP eventually.  Fiber to the home is by far the fastes way to get broadband (duh), then cable, then DSL (on average.)  And the RIAA still sucks.

dl.tv Episode 87 - There is apparently a campaign to get rid of the caps lock key on the keyboard.  I don't use the caps lock key at least not regularly, personally, but I'd be against getting rid of it, for the one or two times I do use it.  If you want to move it, I might be for that because I don't use it very often.  MySpace is a useful law enforcement tool to track down deadbeats and scumbags, NICE.  You're stupid enough to do something stupid AND stupid enough to use MySpace, good thing you get caught.  A rather lengthy review of Dead Rising, the first game that makes me want to buy a 360.  Robert doesn't like the Quicktime installer (I don't either, because it doesn't matter what you click, Quicktime STILL takes over everything it can.)

Diggnation - Episode 59 - Kevin is wearing a LaLa shirt and he's hoping she's at Alex's b-day party that night.  Beers: Kevin is drinking 22oz Sapporo in a can and Alex is drinking a fine 22 oz Tecate in a can.  Weird.  Good news, though, but they were off topic a lot.

CommandN - Hacking the DS Lite.  Dating for Orangutans.  It was a weird episode.  The web picks were only okay this week, nothing spectacular.

Wow, DVR clearing weekend

Yet again, I couldn't post at night.  I wonder that the hell is happening, I seem to only be able to post in the morning.

Our DVR is completely cleared.  We still have some downloaded shows to watch, but for the first time since right after we got it, our DVR is completely cleared.

The Show with Ze Frank - I said I'd post if he did a really funny one, and damn he did.  The 8/17 show when he gives the different levels of sickness exaggeration was classic.

FLOSS - Episode 6 - The special guest is Larry Augustin who is one of the champions of the Linux movement.  Extremely interesting interview about the first real Linux custom installer.  Also some talk of Surgar CRM which is a very cool Open Source CRM program.  So cool, I kinda want to try it :)

FLOSS - Episode 7 - Jimmy Wales of Wikipedia is the special guest.  My interview got cut off a bit, so I didn't get the whole thing, and again, I'm too lazy to go get it again but it was a very interesting interview.

FLOSS - Episode 8 - Ryan Gordon is a big time Linux developer and an SDL guru who talks about people getting into game development.

The Daily Show - 8/17 - The Jonbenet Ramsy case is apparently more important than the Iraq War or the Israel/Lebanon stuff.  A little Live from 1997 with Rob Cordry.

FLOSS - Episode 9 - Randall Schwartz this is a very interesting interview with a serious PERL guru and a real genius developer.  Very cool.

FLOSS- Episode 10 - Hemos from Slashdot is the guest.  It's interesting because one of Leo's friends is Kevin Rose, who does digg and digg is one of /.'s biggest competitors.  Very interesting to see how some questions are asked and responded to.

Psych - Pilot - This is a fun show.  Not the best show I've ever seen, but the chemistry between the leads is pretty good and the main character is a character, funny.  Lace and I watched one episode a while back, then realized it wasn't the first one, so I went and got the first two.  The Pilot was actually pretty good.

Psych - Spelling Bee - The guys investigate apparent sabotage and murder at a spelling bee.  Funny episode.  But my review of all of them are going to be pretty much the same, so I'm just going to list the other ones we watched, Woman Seeking Dead Husband - Smokers Okay, No Pets then we watched 9 Lives (Shawn pretends to get clues from a cat in order to get more information.)  We then watched Weekend Warriors which had Civil War reactors (which is something I really don't get, but that's besides the point.  The last one we watched is Who Ya Gonna Call where the guys need to find out a ghost who is haunting a client.  Umm, yeah, this one was a bit weird, though, and if you saw it, you'll know what I mean.

Beer Nutz - Portland Or - I'd like to go to Portland, the place in the country where the most Hops are grown.  That would be pretty neat to see.  Also, they have a lot of really cool/good looking bars that I'd like to try.

Three Sheetz - Ireland - Zane goes to Ireland and drinks a LOT of Guinness.  He also drinks some Jameson and some other things, but for the most part, he's drinking Guinness.  Learn how to pour it correctly, why it takes so long from pour to drinking, if done correctly.  Pretty good episode for the most part.

Eureka - Alienated - One of the townspeople appears to be abducted by aliens and then a bunch of people start acting really weird.  I liked the explanation as to why they did it, too, that was really neat.  I like this show too, it's not the best show but it's a lot of fun to watch.

Mythbusters - Shattering Subwoofer - The guys build a sub powered by a diesel engine to try to destroy a car.  They got 161 db at 16 hz, which is un-be-fricken-leviable and very very cool.  Also, the other team proved something that we all know, driving faster on washboard dirt road feels smoother.  More dangerous, sure, but smoother.

America's Got Talent - STOP READING if you haven't watched the finale yet and you care cause I'm gonna spoil it - The girl Bianca won.  The one damn thing I didn't want to happen ( a singer winning) did.  Oh, well.

30 Days - Outsourcing - A guy who's job got outsourced to India travels to India and works in a call center for 30 days.  It's an interesting premise, but I think it's unfounded.  The real problem in this country with respect to outsourcing, is that they outsource all this work to India and they're finding out that yeah, it's 1/3 of the price but it takes them 4 times as long to do it, there goes all your profit.  And customer support has to be stopped this India call centers where you can't understand the people.

30 Days - Athiest/Christian - An athiest lives with a Christian family for 30 days.  Not one of the better ones because 30 days only works if the two groups can ever see eye-to-eye on something, and these two are just so diametrically opposed, that it can't work.

30 Days - New Age - This has been my favorite episode so far this season.  The guy who goes into the New Age movement wants to see if any of the stuff they teach (yoga, tribal dancing, tarot, accupuncture, raking, cupping, etc) works and does it with an open mind and found some stuff that works for him.  Good for him.

Starting to get a bit annoyed

For some reason, I haven't been able to post at night easily for the past few days.  SO again, another morning post.

The Daily Show - 8/16 - Jason Jones reports from Crawford Texas where Bush was on vacation.  Stewart claims that Bush read The Stranger which is apparently a book about a Westerner who kills an Arab and dies with no remorse.  I've never read it, though, so I can't comment.  Don't you feel safer with CNN having a "Target:USA" watch?  Then a neat little clip of Castro in bed, and Jon saying how impossible it is to doctor a photo, while the photo in the background of Castro in bed reading a magazine, becomes a photo dressed in drag reading a gay magazine.  The special guest is Thomas Kean former governor of NJ who was head of the 9/11 commission.

The Colbert Report - 8/16 - Wow, funniest joke I've heard in a while to start the show, he's going to ask Morgan Spurlok why he doesn't call his show 30 Day, Month.  Okay, I thought it was funny at least,  The interview was okay as well.

The Daily Giz Wiz - 128:8/16 - CoolIT - USB powered beverage chiller.  Yeah, that sounds really weird.

FLOSS - Episode 1 - The new (new as of April, I just haven't listened yet) from the twit guys (a.k.a. Leo) deals with free and open source software.  This is basically an intro podcast to let you know what this will be doing.  The host, Chris DiBona works as Google, which is very cool.

FLOSS - Episode 2 - One of the guys from Firefox is here and they talk about Mozilla and the browser.  Very very cool.  Also, he told us about the Add Keyword for this Search feature of Firefox which might be my new favorite, of all time, thing.

FLOSS - Episode 3 - CmdrTaco of Slashdot is the special guest, and the interview is pretty funny.  Talk about making /. Web 2.0 and stuff.  I'll say one thing about this podcast is that it's just a conversation, which is nice, but damn is the audio quality really good on it.

FLOSS - Episode 4 - Chromatic is the special guest who is an editor at OReily and contributes a lot to the perl project.  Good discussion about Perl 6 and differences between 6 and 5.

FLOSS - Episode 5 - Miquel De Icaza is the special guest, who has a long history in OSS, including the GNOME project.  It might've been a good interview, but it got cut off on my download and I Just didn't go back and download the rest of it, because I'm super lazy.

dl.tv - Episode 86 - Hrmm, Patrick is wearing a pirate style headband.  Wow, weird.  Some good iPod Nano competitors.  I'm not interested because I'd rather have a slightly larger player that held more (ala iPod, where's my 80 gig ipod??)  Also some discussion of how fast the new Mac Pro looks and a few viewer questions.  Plus Robert and Patrick don't know what the name of their show is :)

Two jam-packed days in a row

The Colbert Report - 8/14 - Stephen wants to put Jon Stewart on notice, but his card isn't ready, so he's calling Jon Stewart out.  The Jon drops by the show.  And Stephen puts a Heraldo Rivera mustache on Jon, which was funny.  Stephen tells you how to keep your privacy online.  The Special Guest is Ramesh Ponnuru who wrote a book called A Party of Death about the Democrat party.

The Daily Show - 8/15 - The show starts off with the Republican Senator and possible presidential candidate George Allen and his weird diatribe against some guy who he didn't think was an American Citizen and stuff.  Of course this was taken out of context, but it looks like this guy is the Republicans Howard Dean, he might have good ideas, but he doesn't have that inner part of his brain that says don't say that before he does.  Jon then does a Cheney impersonation, which is always funny.  Dan Bakkedahl does a special report on a pimp-tax.  And you KNOW it's Hard out here for a Pimp.  The Special Guest is Samuel L. Jackson star of the upcomming movie Snakes on a (*muttafuckin*) Plane.  Which I want to see.

The Colbert Report - 8/15 - Mike Wallace is like Hitler, but without the mustache.  An All You Need to Know sketch, in which Stephen blew up a condom like a balloon which then blew up in his face, in which he almost lost it.

What's New Now - 8/4 - So I'm a little late listening to this one, so the news is going to be slightly old, but that's okay.  Start of by pimping some sister shows, such as Gear Log, which I'm going to start listening to as well.  I've become a podcast whore.  Stars off with some Black Hat stuff, but the next episode should talk more about it.  Good talk about broadband vs. dial up.  I know when I got Lace's parents to switch over to cable (back when we were dating and Lace still lived there) they loved it and understood why I was so excited about it.

What's New Now - 8/8 - Patrick was flown to NY so they could do a live WNN, which was pretty cool so they could talk a bit about Def Con - a hacker convention.  It sounds really really cool, but don't use a laptop during it.  Also, some talk on how Hard Drives are fixed when they crash.  Speaking of which, I really need to back up my digital pictures.  Like soon.  And some talk of the weird digital bunny that will talk to you.  Yeah, it's weird.

TWiT - Episode 66 - Dvorak, Robert, and Brett somebody, who's a newbie TWiT.  Dvorak really hates the list of greatest PCs of all time complaining most of them aren't PCs.  The Apple II was the number one, and no matter what you think about it being a PC or not, it is probably the best computer of all fricken time, lasted for years and you probably can still find a school somewhere that is still using one.  Some talk of the AOL search database fiasco where they released all the information.

Geekdrome - Episode 38 - There is special guests in this show, the guys who recorded the theme song.  They both liked Ricky Bobby, but Dan liked it enough to recommend it for theater and Jon said it was only a rental.  They both liked the new Carrell movie, but I forget the name of it (Something Sunshine.)  Dan's going to a Playboy party and apparently going to just stare "stalkerish."  I learned a new TLA today, the good 'ole NRB - No Reason Boner.

Basic Brewing Radio - 8/17/2006 - Posted early because of Jame's scheduled.  Very weird is that his guest talked about partial Extract boils, which is something that I read an article on earlier today.  Turns out it was the author of the article, very interesting.

Nightmares and Dreamscapes - The Road Virus Heads North - An interesting episode with a painting that follows the character (a scary book writer, kind of like King himself) and kills people.  I didn't quite get the ending though.  It probably was some allusion or allegory to the colon cancer that he probably has, but I'm not sure if I'm right.

30 Days - Immigration - This show, brought to you by Morgan Spurlock of SuperSize Me fame, takes a person with strongly held personal or political beliefs and forces them to live with the exact opposite for 30 days.  In this one a Minute Man Border Patrol Vigilante lives with a family of illegal immigrants.  It's an interesting show, and one of the most interesting debates that I think our country is having right now, one of the few political debates out there that is not only polarizing, but actually matters (as opposed to, say, gay marriage which really doesn't matter.)

**** Music Reviews ****
Ozma - Rock and Roll Part Three - The best thing about this band is that they sound exactly like Weezer.  The worst thing is that they sound EXACTLY like Weezer (so much so that Lace thought it was Weezer.  So if you like Weezer and want more music like them (which I do and I do) check 'em out.  If you aren't a Weezer fan stay away ... far away.  Seriously the guy even sounds like Cumo.  But I did enjoy the album.  But don't take my word for it, AllMusic.com says almost the same thing.

Wow, seems like I watched/listened to a lot today

I tried to post this yesterday, but it wouldn't let me, so you get it early today :)

Flavor of Love - S02E02 - So Flavor Flav continues his quest to find true love on a reality show.  He kept the girl who took a shit on his floor.  Also, they had this weird thing in this show that they had to pick out what kind of food he'd like from a place where he didn't like anything, that was weird.  Overall this show is really stupid, yet I'm still watching because Flav himself is entertaining with his antics.

Diggnation - Episode 58 - Kevin still doesn't have a couch.  And he's having a huge problem with his laptop so they went really fast past the beer they were drinking.  Some okay news, I liked the video of the girls getting flung from the merry-go-round (as bad of a person as I am for laughing at that.)  Alex was pretty drunk and Kevin is a lier :)

Command-N - Episode 57 - I don't like all the graphics in this show.  Just seems like too much.  A good story about "Web 2.0" which is just crap.  The Film Critic is now a "Web 2.0" app, user controlled with AJAX and all that shit.  Yeah, doesn't mean anything, does it?  And Mike is really paranoid in this show, but I think he has reason to be.  A neat product idea which is a "tuneJuice" a 9-volt battery for your ipod.  Webpick of the weeks - Amber's is WorkFriendly a neat little proxy that looks like Word (but I think I might have mentioned this before because it was on diggnation and twit, etc)  Mike's is a fake name generator.

Craft Beer Radio - Episode 49, 8/7 - They're reviewing wheat beers in this episode, I like wheat beers a lot.  They really liked a hoppy wheat beer, which I've never had so I'd like to try it sometime.

Crankygeeks - Episode 22 - Start the show off by talking about the Apple WWDC and Leopard and the Mac Pro.  Some people are wondering if Jobs is okay.  Then some talk about the guy that got caught for doctoring news photos.  Also, apparently some company is firing people via text-messages?  I dislike text-messages from friends, I'd be pissed if I got fired by one.

Daily Giz Wiz - Episode 127 8/11 - Leo is singing and he isn't very good.  The Digisette is some weird MP3/book player that you used to be able to buy, and apparently it sucked but it would plug right into a tape player.

Daily Giz Wiz - Episode 128 8/14 - Dick reviews a secure card to do logins and it was pretty neat called the PowerLogin.

Daily Giz Wiz - Episode 129 8/15 - Turn the Table Tuesday where Leo has the gadget.  This time he's reviewing a gadget that plugs into your computer like a CDROM and after you hook up all the cables, it'll transfer cassette tapes into MP3s.

dl.tv - Episode 84 - A pretty much all viewer questions in this episode.  Patrick wants an NSA hat.  Lots of good questions and it was a pretty good show.

dl.tv - Episode 85 - They start off by installing Ubuntu live, on air.  That's pretty cool, Linux has gotten really easy to install the last few years.  It was actually pretty neat.  Then they talk a little bit about the WWDC, which was expected.  A review of Lego Star Wars 2.  And some quick view questions and there is a possible of a widescreen and/or HD show in the nearish future.  Also some talk as to where dl.tv and ziff-davis are going which was interesting.

Eureka - Pilot - The Pilot episode was pretty interesting.  The premise of this show is that there is a down somewhere undisclosed that houses all of the best and the brightest scientists in the United States.  Einstien decendents, Oppenhiemer, etc.  The show centers around a new guy (he becomes the sheriff of the town at the end of the pilot, hence the rest of the show) as he learns about the town and tries to fix all of the screwups that the scientists get into.  The pilot was pretty good and I'm interested to see where it is going.  It might not be that great of a show but the premise will probably keep me watching.

The Daily Show - 8/14 - Funniest part of this show was the photos that were in such bad taste that the audience didn't laugh at all, which made it very uncomfortable.  I didn't catch the name of the special guest but he wrote a book called Fiasco, which shows how badly the U.S. botched the whole Iraq war.

Eureka - Many Happy Returns - This is the second episode in the series in which the girl who was killed in the first episode comes back.  Looks l like she isn't the person who died, but the person who died is a clone of that person.  It's all very weird, but it is still a good premise.  The main guy in this show reminds me of Mike Rowe who does the Dirty Jobs show on Discovery.  The guy who died also comes back because he didn't actually die, just shifted himself into a different temporal plane by accident.

Eureka - Before I Forget - This was a cool episode because a guy had a zappy thing like in MiB, except he was the only one that knew he had it.  I really liked how they explained how he got it too.  This show is good for the futuristic technology and the plots aren't terrible, but the chemistry between the characters isn't that great.

Treasure Hunters - Finale part 1 - Goddamn To Be Continued.  That's just evil, but all three teams look like they might still have a chance, but the Geniuses are up by a little bit at this point.

Meeting today, so a short post

Treasure Hunters - Episode 8 - The Geniuses are really dumb.  They think they're so smart they make dumb decisions because of their "smartness" but they still manage to eek out one more episode.  Too bad the CIA guys went home, they were kinda cool too.  I liked this episode because I think the final place they searched was really neat.

America's Got Talent - Wildcard and Results show - I agree with Piers that the Quick Change are excellent at what they do but have done the exact same act like 4 times now, and I'm bored.  I wish the other magician got through, I kinda liked him.  I think At Last was a lock, they were easily the 3rd best in the hardest show up to that point and they're really good too.  I think they're all going to have a tough time next to the harmonica kid, he's excellent.

No more Jeopardy, for a while

Mythbusters - Diet Coke and Mentos - Everyone has seen the trick and it's a lot of fun but the guys figure out why and how it works, which was cool, plus lots of diet coke and mentos.  Also, they burn methane, which is fun.  The second myth is the one about a helicopter being put off balance by a postage stamp which was busted.

Basic Brewing Video - Beers & Desserts - I hate this show because it makes me want to drink the beer they can drink which I can't since its their homebrew.  Guess I'll have to make my own :)  It also makes me want to brew, which I did do that night.

Dane Cook's Tourgasm - Seriously 1/3 of this show was not about the tour itself but interviews of the tour.  Which sucks because the tour was funny and these are only okay.

Criss Angel:Mindfreak - Episode 13 - Criss exposes scam artists and how they do it (pickpocketing, psychic surgery, etc) and has Penn & Teller on the show which is always funny.  Also he goes through the wall of an armored truck, which was super freaky.

Ebert & Roeper - This episode Kevin Smith filled in for a sick Ebert and reviewed a few movies.  Funny, since Smith is funny, but I don't think Smith and Roeper like eachother.  Also, Smith liked Step Up which looks terrible.

Oh, and Score - we cleared the good ole DVR of all the Jeopardys we had recorded.  Rock-fricken-on.

I haven't gone to bed yet (its really not that late) therefore the day isn't over and this isn't late.

The Daily Show - 8/10 - John Oliver reports about not allowing liquid on planes due to the terrorist threat.  Okay, I'm going to go off on a tangent right here so feel free to stop reading.  I truly believe that the terrorists that were planning on blowing up the plane really didn't care if they blew the plane up or not.  I think they'd be happy if they won, but I think they're just as happy to get caught and then make everyone afraid to travel.  It does the exact same thing for their cause in the long run.  Then some reporting on the fact that Indiana has more "terror targets" than New York, since The Statue of Liberty and The Brooklyn Bridge aren't targets according to the Department of Homeland Security.  Stephen Colbert shows up at The Daily Show and the crowd goes nuts.  Then he puts Jon Stewart "On Notice."  Dale Earnhart Jr. is the special guest.  I don't like racing in general and I really dislike NASCAR, I just don't get it, but it was a pretty good interview.  The Colbert tease was very funny, he was still on the set.

The Colbert Report - 8/10 - Colbert shows all the liquids he really takes on a plan.  The Word is "Cappuccino."  Another Better Know a District. The special guest is one of the guys from MoveOn.org.

Geekdrome - Episode 36 - so I'm a few weeks late.  Dan really liked A Scanner Darkly, and I'd like to see that one of these days.  Not sure what else they talked about I wasn't really paying attention.  I also skipped the ComicConn stuff, because I was over that a long time ago and, yes, this is weeks late, but no.  After the comiccon they talked a lot about Dungeons and Dragons stuff and fantasy books.  Dan is going to play D&D with Alex Albrect, real pen and paper D&D.  Yeah, I'm way geeky, cause I always wanted to try it, but as Dan said, I don't have geeky enough friends to try.

Geekdrome - Episode 37 - Some movie talk, Dan hated Lady in the Water, but he's not a big Shamalamadingdong fan to begin with.  He also had a really good time playing paper & pen D&D.  It was mostly background noise, though. Jon wants to take Alex's seat at the next game.  Good question about when you realized you were a geek.  And a ton of embarrassing experiences, which was really funny.

Wouldn't let me post yesterday, so here's a double one.

Craft Brew Radio - Beer Geek Roundtable 1 - This is like a 3 hours how about beer and beer geeks.  James Spencer of Basic Brewing Radio is there for half a second then he was gone, but he comes back a half hour later.  I really liked when they talked about the different laws about beer and alcohol in states and countries.  Also, I liked when they talk about how to raise a kid with respect to beer and alcohol.  Also some really good talk of Craft vs. Macro brews.  The show was long but very interesting and if you're into beer, you should give it a listen.

Craft Beer Radio - Episode 48 - This time they're sampling IPAs.  I love IPAs, because I love hops.  I just tasted my first home-brewed IPA last night and it wasn't too bad.  A bit fruity because it's still young and because it was too hot here when I brewed it, but still very drinkable.  They had a bit too much during the show, but that makes it a bit funnier.

The Daily Show - 8/8 - Show starts off with some talk of the BP oil pipeline which broke because they didn't inspect it.  Apparently BP can't afford to inspect it, they only made 7 billion dollars last quarter.  And baby seals are used to fix the pipeline.  The Daily Show then puts up a clip show of Rumsfield talking about how easy the Iraq war will be after telling Hillary that he never did so.  Yay! Back in Black with Lewis Black.  Brian Williams is the special guest.

The Colbert Report - 8/8 - Bush closes the press room (renovations apparently.)  And Stephen removes his invitation to Joe Lieberman.  The Word is "Ten-Hut" where Stephen claims that war veterans shouldn't be allowed to speak out against the war, they should stand behind the President.  An overly long cartoon that Stephen "created."  The special guest was a guy who wrote a book about the "40 Million Dollar Slave" about black athletes.  One major difference, any black athlete can decide to quite his sport, no one is forcing him to play.

Command-N - Start off with some WWDC talk about Leopard, the new OSX from Apple.  Google and MySpace are teaming up and apparently MySpace is going to use Google for searching.  Who cares? :)  A few alternatives of Office apps with Open Source.  Ehh.

Basic Brewing Radio - The last intervriew from the NHC.  There is an interview with Matt Brynildson and John Mallet about Dry Hopping and First Wort Hopping.  I like hops, and I think I might try to dry-hop one of my next beers.

The Daily Show - 8/9 - A guy on Fox News holds up a sign in the background that says Hannity sucks ass.  It was pretty funny.  A lot of talk about Lieberman and his losing the primary and Samantha Bee reports about it.  Also a correspondant from the Middle East.  A guy from the Guinness Book of World Records, which is an interesting book.

I also watched the Colbert Report from 8/9 but it was background noise and I forgot about it already.  I'm sure it was good, though, he usually is.

Flavor of Love 2 - Episode 1 - Ummmm, so, yeah, this is, as Entertainment Weekly puts it, a ghetto-fabulous The Bachalor ripoff.  Yeah, it's pretty terrible but my RSS reader is now set to download it (think DVR but over the internet and of very questionable legality) and I'll probably watch them all.  And "Somethin" shat on the floor.  Yeah, that was nasty.

WWdN: In Exile: the hum of the clock is a far away place Wow, this is on of Wheaton's best posts in a while. I actually laughed out loud.

Back on track

The Colbert Report - 8/3 - Show starts off with an interview with David Cross playing a very undecided Jewish guy, called Russ Leiber, as Stephen defends Mel Gibson.  New series called "Meet an Ally" similar to Better Know a District, but this with members of the Coalition of the Willing (a.k.a. C.O.W.) with the Ambassador to Palau who is from New York.  Paul Hackett is the special guest, he's running for Congress on an anti-president, anti-war (specifically, THIS war, not all war) platform.  He has a bit of credentials, since he's an Iraqi vet.  It was actually a pretty funny and good interview.

TWiT - Episode 65, The $60 Million Dollar Man - the panel is Leo, Kevin, Wil Harris, Cory Doctorow and Dvorak.  The Web 2.0 poster boy himself, the 60 million dollar man, Kevin Rose is one of the big stories.  Also some talk of the AOL firing 5,000 works.  The Mac is hacked at Black Hat, but it isn't that big of a deal, I don't think.  The web itself turns 15, supposedly.  Also some talk about doxpara.com which has a program that traces your routes on the Internet to try to figure out if ISPs are throttling or not.  A bunch of talk about writing and how much people who write write every day.  Also I like Wil Harris a lot, and it's a shame he's not really invovled too much with the EFF anymore.  And I'm an ass, because I should've donated to the EFF by now.  It was a low-key TWiT, which was actually pretty good.

Basic Brewing Radio - 8/3 - NHC Coverage 3 - This one covers Advanced Homebrewing Techniques and it was way way over my head.  I'l admit that I didn't understand it, and really wished the website had pictures of this "one-dollar homebrew barrel" so I knew what the hell they were talking about.

America's Got Talent - Episodes 11 and 12 - So the jugglers who juggled people got in, that was pretty cool.  I'm very eh about the tap dancing fidlers.  Sure they're impressive, but I didn't care when I watched them.

I'm a big slacker

Seriously, I'm a big slacker and forgot to post Friday or the whole weekend.  So here's a big one to get caught up.

YouTube - Darth Vader being a smartass - Pretty funny

The Daily Show - 8/2 - Jon Stewart starts off by making fun of the audience who waited outside in searing hot conditions to see the show.  Pretty funny clip montage to the President and his eating habits.  A look back on the past 10 years and interviews done in Florida which wasn't bad.  Chris Payne is the special guest, he did a documentary called Who Killed the Electric Car?  It was a good interview, I didn't know that the cars even really existed let alone that they were taken back and crushed by GM.

The Colbert Report - 8/2 - Stephen apparently drank a gallon of milk on the bus on the way to work, and that didn't go over so well.  An "audience" member wanted him to put Milk "On Notice" which lead to a clip about how the Notice Board is made.  Single Serving is The Word.  Colbert set a part of the show aside for an interview with Joe Lieberman, so he had to fill it with something, so he took some phone calls.  He then explained journalism.  Linda Hirschman was the special guest and she wrote a book called Get to Work, about woman needing to get to work.  And I think a bit of Stephen's real personal came through during the interview.  Linda said, multiple times, that a woman who WANTS to stay home and take care of kids is wrong.  Stephen basically told her that what she says is the correct thing for woman to want is what she wants woman to want.  Yeah, it's a confusing sentence but it makes sense if you read it enough times.

The Daily Show - 8/3 - John Stewart says that December 31 is the same as the 12th of Nevur - a.k.a. the day the Iraqi troops will take over peacekeeping duties.  Iraqi Kurdistan is "The Other Iraq" as says their own tourism attraction advertisement.  CNN did some checking with a "Faith and Values" correspondant to see if we were at the end of the world.  Oh and theres a hell is that?  Apparently there is a Rapture Index on the web?  What the hell is that?  Danny Devito is the special guest and he's always funny and made me want to watch the show It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Dane Cook's Tourgasm - Epsidoe 8 - This was kinda a recap episode, it was okay but not very funny.  Lots of clips of Dane and Bobbie from when they were younger which was kinda fun to watch.  Overall, though, I would've preferred another clip of them performing at tourgasm.

Pimp my Ride - Toyota Celica - So this girl who doesn' t own a cellphone or a computer gets both and 2 TB of storage in her car.  What the hell does she need with a 2 TB data array in her car?  I'll take it off her hands because I'll actually use it.  Yeah, thanks.

Beer Nutz - Chicago - This episode was only okay.  I liked seeing the inside of some of the bars, but overall, I prefer to see the breweries that I've heard of before and this one just seemed like a lot of going into bars and talking about nothing.

Three Sheets - Tequila - Wow, so the host gets really drunk drinking Tequila.  And they do a weird shot that is tequila and coffee liquor, lit on fire and then dropped in beer, boilermaker style.  After the show, the waiters blindfold you and whip your head around to make you dizzy, yeah, it looked weird.  I didn't know that Jose Cuervo is the oldest tequila producer in the world, so you learn something new everyday.

Diggnation - Episode 57 - The guys are sitting on the floor at Kevin's new pad in San Francisco, he has no couch.  They're drinking Boont Amber Ale, which I can't say I remember them drinking before because I've never heard of it.  I think it's funny that Kevin said he likes the annoying Flash Banner ads, a guy on digg.com whipped up a new one based on diggnation.  YouTube puts all Star Wars fan film back online after Lucasfilm asks them too.  Kevin's looking up the Oxygen Channel Porn lady during the show, which is a bit weird.  An IP address is not enough proof that someone downloaded something, only proof of who payed for the Internet access.

dl.tv - Episode 82 - A pretty good episode, good news and stuff.  They talked about the Ageia's PhysX physics accelerator which is just stupid looking.  And how to share Network in a hotel, which was pretty good.  No need for 802.11n right now, but someday in the future.
Oh, and E3 is downsizing which is very interesting.

dl.tv - Episode 83 - I like the monkey hanging out in the background.  Congress wants to ban MySpace from online libraries and schools.  AOL is going to be firing like 5000 jobs as they try to switch from a subscriber base to an advertiser based model.  Robert shows off a bit of CutePDF which is pretty nice way to print to a PDF file.

CommandN - Episode 55 - An interesting story of a Bikini that tells you when you're in too much sun.  A neat little feature on how to use gmail to check and send email from other accounts.  I haven't tried to use that yet, but it's an interesting idea.

Crankygeeks - Episode 21 - A lot of MySpace talk again.  I swear to god, I don't fucking understand MySpace.  It's the worst designed site in the world, impossible to navigate and one of the worst signal-to-noise ratio on the whole damn web, yet it's insanely popular.  MySpace is one of the first things that's made me feel old, it's a "hip" thing I don't understand.  Well, that and text messaging.  I don't understand text messaging, other than a few particular instances, either.  Also some iPod accessories talk, like the OhMiBod - and iPod powered dildo.

TWiT - Episode 64 Chaos Theory - I'm a week late on this one, but that's okay.  The people on the podcast are Leo, Patrick, Prager, Doug Kaye, Chris Pirillo and Dr. Jerry E. Pournelle, who writes about Chaos Theory or something.  They start the show off with some talk about making money during podcasts.  Then some really good talk about Intel and AMD chips and the new Core 2 Duo.  I can't wait to get one, actually :)  Then some AMD/ATI merger talk.  Then some talk about the E3 convention scaling back.  And Christ, more MySpace stuff.

Criss Angel - Mindfreak - Back to School - Criss goes back to his high school to perform some magic for the teachers and students there.  The big illusion of the night was getting a bunch of kids (4) hypnotized and they picked up a car off the ground.  It was pretty impressive, actually.

Ctrl-Alt-Chicken - Beef Stew - Heather and Alex create beef stew.  This is a dish that's pretty hard to screw up, so it isn't a big surprise that they get it correct and it tastes good.  The show was funny though.

Just a quickie

Ananova - Deckchair trapped testicles - Umm, OUCH

So I didn't watch much (anything) during the day, but watched a few things at night:

Treasure Hunters - Episode 7 -  Not a bad episode, but it was a shame to see who went go.  Spoiler - I liked Miss USA and was sad to see them go.  Air Force seems to be the ones to beat in this game, they're smart and can do all the physical challenges.

Nightmares and Dreamscapes - Umney's Last Case - Kinda a weird show (shocker, seeing what the show is) but a premise that's been done before.  We've all seen Delirious with John Candy.  Yeah, it's better than that movie, and I like William H. Macy a lot.  The show was pretty good though.

So that's about it, a really short post today.

Wow, uhh, America's Got Talent, eh?

Wow, I'm a freakin idiot (or an African Moron, but you probably don't get the joke.)  I completely forgot that we watched America's Got Talent last night, from the time we watched it to the time I got back to my computer to post to my blog.  Wow, that's bad.

America's Got Talent - Yeah, umm, so how good can it be when I forget that I saw it?  Yeah, not very.  I really didn't care about any of the performances this time, I got the rappin granny but I thought the magician would go instead of the girl.

The Daily Show - 7/31 - Started off with the Mel Gibson story.  Then to keep the making fun of equal, he make fun of ABC news because he's been making too much fun of the Cable News channels.  Tony Blair has become "Yo Blair!"  Ooh, a new correspondent John Oliver (he might actually be British.)  Rob Cordry in This Week in God.  Will Farrel is the special guest.

The Colbert Report - 7/31 - Stephen finds a Zionist plot on the weather page.  The Word is Wikiality that which becomes reality when enough people think it and change the wikipedia article.  Then a Tip of the Hat, Wag of the Finger.  I didn't catch the name of the guy who was the special guest, but he's the guy who is running against Joe Lieberman by running against The President.

The Daily Show - 8/1 - A nice report on Allstate and why they're dicks.  Then more talk about Mel Gibson and using of clips from his movies to illustrate his actions.  Yeah, it was funny but still pretty dumb.  The special guest was a guy who wrote a book called The Shia Revival.

The Colbert Report - 8/1 - A pretty funny bit where he smoked onstage.  Also the interview at the end was okay, but I didn't catch the guys name.

Small day, had a meeting today

dl.tv - Episode 81 - Digg.com fans hack Netscape.  Pretty funny stuff since Netscape copied Digg.com almost completely.  They did it using an XSS vunerability, that's something my sites are probably vunerable too.  Some talk about MP3 encoders.  I use CDex (I could use EAC, but I have CDex working very well for me now and I don't feel like changing) which uses LAME to encode.  I also use --alt-preset extreme which is ridiculous but the files sound great.  Oooh, the new Sony HDR-HC3 looks really nice and at only $1,400 it's starting to get affordable.  Also a review of Sam & Max, or at least an intro.  I'm not familiar with these   They also talked about the NEC TheaterSync a pretty nice scaler.  I don't really NEED a scaler for my plasma, it would be overkill, but when I do get a theater room (and I will get one :)) then I'll probably get a pretty high end scaler too.

Crankygeeks - Episode 20 - Sebastian Rupley is the Head Crank today because Dvorak isn't available.  Oh, darn.  A lot of talk about the ATI & AMD merger (or buyout depending on your talk) which was interesting.  I think the one guy got it right that AMD wants to be able to offer low end (think cheap Dell) and laptop companies an all-inclusive platform like Intel has been able to do for a while now.  The Japanese are going to attempt to predict weather for 30 years into the future. We'll see how that works out, since the guys on Channel 6 can't get the weather right for tomorrow.

Diggnation - Episode 56 - Wow, the guys had me rolling at something entirely inappropriate today.  Some kid with eye cancer figured out how to move around by clicking his tongue and listening to the echoes.  Really sucks for the kid, but the guys went off with how cool sonar would be.  I think it's funny when Kevin starts talking about how room temperature water is better for your system than cold water while he's drinking a Budweiser.  And a nice little argument about when the acceptable use of LOL is.  Apparently, if you aren't actually laughing out loud you shouldn't put lol.  And if your rofl you should have to take a second to get off the floor and back in your chair before being able to respond again.
