Sorry

So I've been insanely busy this past week or so, so I apologize for not posting.  I probably won't be posting anything for the next week or so, then I'll probably have some more free time.

So I apologize if anyone is still reading this.

Busy today

Okay, so The Daily Show and 3 Colbert Reports were on as background noise today, can't say I really paid attention to them

Same goes for 2 or 3 TWIT episodes. Sorry I suck, busy today.

Yesterday was a good day

Got completely caught up with The Daily Giz Wiz AND Geek Brief TV.

I then watched all of the Mac Weekly videos but got rid of the Mac Weekly podcast as I really didn't care.

dl.tv - HD-DVD vs. Blu-Ray and then some crap about iTunes 7.  Then a bunch of view questions.  I like this show a lot better when both hosts are on, and was glad to see both of them back today.

The Daily Show - 9/18 - Big news, of course, is that Bill Clinton is the special guest, and he was good.  Overshadowed by one of the funniest bits Jason Jones has ever done about gays in the military.

The Daily Show - 9/19 - Wow, the Even Stephen bit was hillarious, I wish I was watching the show when that was on.  Ben Affleck was the guest, and he actually seemed kinda pissed, but it was probably the way the question was phrased.  That anti-circumcision freak all hopped up on frapacinos.

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip - Yes, I'll admit it. I"ve never seen West Wing.  Yes, I know I'd like it, because I like Aaron Sorkin, LOVED Sports Night and The American President.  I think he writes some of the very best dialog I've heard.  This show is no exception.  Excellent dialog and I hope that i continues. I'm a bit surprised that NBC is airing this show, as most of the show is a not very well hidden slight at NBC itself (the name of the network on the show is NBS, come-on!)

Weird Al is back again, and he has some classics.  Two videos for you to enjoy:

Good stuff, he's amazing in how he can sound like whomever he's mocking.

Busy, but normal, day

dl.tv - Episode 94 - Patrick Norton is on vacation, somewhere on the East Coast, so it's just Robert Heron.  Big talk in the beginning about the iPod upgrades and the iTMS selling movies.  Some talk about the Tivo Series 3.

dl.tv - Episode 95 - Patrick Notron is the ONLY host this time, as Robert is at Cedia.  Not a terrible episode, but I miss the back and forth between Robert and Patrick.

The Simpsons - Jazzy and the Pussycats - Two very different stories that come together in a really terrible way.  So terrible that they even make a joke about it in the show itself, which then makes it funny.  But Bart as a drummer was pretty funny.

Fat Wreck Chords podcasts - So I listened to the 5 episodes they have out so far, all about 30 mins each, not bad.  Some good music, some that isn't so great.  But pretty good stuff overall.

Vanished - Drop - The Senator is led on a wild goose chase which culminates in 30 story drop in an elevator.  Unbelievable?  Yep, but still pretty cool and you wonder what this whole 9 thing is (and does it have something to do with the Supreme Court?  Probably)

Vanished - Before the Flood - We find out why the old Mayor dude killed himself and start to find out more about this whole 9 thing, which is really a 6 but upside down and apparently a masonic symbol.  Oh and Marcy is pregnant (shocker) but what was shocking is that she was the one who was sleeping with the dude that wants to be on the Supreme Court.  Umm, okay, that's a bit outrageous, but I'll go with it for a while.

The Amazing Race - The new season of the Amazing race started.  It's too early to tell who I like and who I don't like, but I'm not sure that I like people getting kicked off not at pit-stops or not, we'll see.  The Muslims and Indians are out already, a lot for the first show.

Listed to a bunch of The Daily Giz Wiz getting caught up on them on Tuesday.  I"m really trying to get caught up on all of my podcasts, I figure it'll take another 3-4 weeks before that happens, we'll find out if I'm right.  I'll keep you updated, as I'm sure you're waiting with bated breath.

Fun-packed Friday/Weekend

The Daily Show - 9/13 - The show starts of with some Indecision 2006 talk, with some funny rhymes.  A little making fun of The Governator (which was good.)  Exper-Teaser with John Hodgman and how you can keep your child from getting head-lice.  Guest is the Former Chair of the Republican Party - Ed Gillipse.  Stewart does a good interview and Ed was actually a pretty good guest, even if I might not agree with anything he said.  New segment: The Daily Show "Seat of Heat."

The Colbert Report - 9/13 - Stephen's Baby Eagle has been tracked into Canada so Stephen called him a draft dodger.  That wierd bit where Stephen talks to himself, and then put a gun in each others mouth.  It was weird.  Ken Jennings (jeopardy guy) is the special guest.  The interview was okay.

The Brewing Network - 9/10 - Wow, a very drunken show, with Beer Jeopardy and some good bits.  I'm liking this show the more I listen, SOME good info and lots of funny stuff.

Cranky Geeks - Episode 25 - This is an older episode that I watched/listened to but the news is over two weeks old now :)  And that's an eternity in this business.  I didn't watch the whole thing because I couldn't stand the one guy.

Cranky Geeks - Episode 26 - Dvorak talk some spam, which he apparently doesn't get unless he's talking about how he blocks it.  Also some of the Apple Showtime announcement talk, which is funny to listen to AFTER the actual keynote speech :)  There's a company that requires anyone over 75 to bring a YOUNGER family member to sign up for Internet service.

Cranky Geeps - Episode 27 - Sebastian Rupley is the guest host, as Dvorak is out.  Kevin Rose is one of the special guests.  Om Malik is a guest, I really hate this guy (he's the guy who I stopped watching episode 25 for.)  But i'll watch this one because of Kevin.

The Daily Show - 9/14 - An extremely funny bit where John Oliver relates his trials and tribulations of being an immigrant worker.   And aparently Afgahnistan has more than 30% OVER supply compared to demand of Opium.  Norm McDonald is the special guest (I think he's drunk, but he's still funny.)  He kinda makes fun of Steve Irwin, which sucks but I still laughed.  It was so wrong and I laughed so hard.

The Colbert Report - 9/14 - The actual Hungarian ambassador is on the show about Stephen winning the contest to have the bridge in Hungry named after him.  Of course, he has to be dead for it to actually be named that way, so, umm, I'm guessing that won't happen, but it was still really funny.  Tip of the Hat, Wag of the Finger.  Bill Simmons - ESPN's The Sports Guy is the special guest.

Til Death - Sex for Furniture - The basic premise of this episode was that Joy was told by her new neighbor that you can trade sex to get whatever type of furniture you want.  Eddie turns down sex and then Joy goes and gets it anyway.  My biggest problem with this episode was that I can't imagine two people doing that to one-another, and while the show had some funny parts, I'm not positive that this show will last the whole season or not.

Blade - Monsters - The FBI agent tracks down Blade and goes on a hunt with him and ends up biting it.  Pretty good episode about revenge though and it sets up the season finale well.

Blade - Conclave - The season finale was excellent with a lot of fighting and gun fights and explosion and tons of deaths, which is awesome.  And the ending was really cool and I can't wait to see what they do next season, hopefully it'll be back.

Survivor - I Can Forgive Her But I Don't Have to Because She Screwed With My Chickens - The first episode of the new season, on Cook Island.  They keep saying that it's this big social experiment dividing the tribes along racial lines.  Lets call it what it is, a very very shallow ratings grab, so you want to see what's going on.  I really couldn't care less about the racial tribes, but it seems that it is all anyone talks about with this show.  I can't wait for them to merge into at most 2 tribes and then to one, just so this social experiment goes away.

Flavor of Love - Who Loves New York - Wow, so this girl New York from last season comes back and just is a complete and total drama-queen attention grabber.  And she was really annoying, almost to the point where I turned off the show (oh, and I full admit that I should have.)

Mythbusters - Mega Movie Myth Spectacular 2 - Excellent episode with like 6 different myths that they bust, but apparently an ejection seat in a car is plausible, which was awesome.  And the awning drop from Indiana Jones (and the Temple of Doom) is also plausible as well.

Vanished - We watched the first two episodes of this mystery/drama tonight.  They're trying to do a 24ish setup, where the ending of each show is a little bit of a cliffhanger, but unlike 24, the plot is way way more complicated at this point (at least compared to 24 in the first 3 seasons, I haven't seen 4 and 5 yet.  Not that 24's plot isn't complicated, it gets complicated, but they usually start off a bit less complicated and then keep adding and adding.)  I'm interested to see where this show goes too, but I've read some places that don't think it'll make it through the season.

Catching up on some Daily Show.

The Daily Show - 9/11 - God, they don't even have to try to make Bush sound stupid, he does it all himself.  A lot of 9/11 talk, obviously.  Jason Jones then reports on hunting with Dart Guns instead of real guns.  Yeah, awesome.  The special guest was Maggie Gyllenhaal who was pregnant.

The Colbert Report - 9/11 - Stephen "calls" the Mannilow win in the same category that he was up for an Emmy in.  The word is Shall, a great word.  Thou Shalt not Kill (except by Lethal Injection :).)  Martin Short is the special guest.  I'm still not the hugest fan of the guy.

The Daily Show - 9/12 - Even though it is no longer 9/11, the show still starts off with more 9/11 talk.  A really funny bit where they superimposed the image of George Bush talking to the nation over top of the Geico commercial with Little Richard.  Wow, that's genius.  Jon then takes a bit of time out to talk to Camera 3 and the President, dressed in a cowboy hat, with a bale of hay and a barn in the background.  Funny stuff.  Lewis Black is on the show, and you know what I think of him.  Gary Hart was the special guest, and he was a Senator and he was okay.  Not sure if he's still in the Senate or not.

The Colbert Report - 9/12 - Funny Colbert fighting Bush with lightsaber in green screen.  I didn't catch the word, but it was probably something like Fear.  NJ's Third - in Better Know a District, except it's a Better know a Challenger.  Toby Keith is the special guest.  Apparently Willie Nelson's bus is the Embassy of Weedvile.  That's funny.

American Dad - Guys, there's a Lion, Guys! There's a Lion!  Oh, nevermind.  Funny.  The show was okay, but not great but that's pretty much par for the course with this show, it has moments that are hilarious and moments that aren't so much.  In this one Stan wants Steve to go to camp and ends up sending him to a refugee camp.

The Brew Network - I don't remember what day this show aired, but it was pretty interesting about Batch Sparging. I'm still an extract brewer but someday I hope to make it to All Grain.  It's cheaper and you have more control over your brews.

*** Misc Review ***
Okay, so this is a review of iTunes 7.  Here's the thing, I usually dislike iTunes but I always give the new version a try.  My main thing I need is the ability to create Smart Playlists based on comments in the ID3 tags (so Lace and I can each get the music we need on our iPods correctly.)  And I also want MP3 and not AAC and I want to use EAC or CDex with LAME to encode my music, not the iTunes built in.  And like most Apple programs, it is so insistent that everything you want to do is integrated into this one program that it doesn't play very well with others.  I could work around all the other problems except one, it did NOT import all my comments correctly.  It imported about 2/3 of them for some reason, no idea why.  So I'm not ready to switch to iTunes yet.

One outta three ain't that bad.

The Simpsons - Kinda a Godfather ripoff but some funny parts.  Not the best Simpsons I've ever seen.

Family Guy - Stewie Loves Lewis - Pretty funny episode where Peter confuses a prostate exam with rape and Stewie goes on this kick where he loves Lois.  Not bad at all.

Diggnation - Episode 62 - Kevin and Alex attempt to start the show with a drinking gag but Kevin ends up throwing up on Alex's couch.  Well, not really but it was still pretty funny.  They're drinking Tecate this show, not a terrible beer.  A Yoda backpack, fricken awesome.  Pretty funny episode, they want the hottest girls from GoDaddy and Geekdrome to be on their show.

Geekdrome - Seriously, I watched this, but wasn't really paying attention.  I hear a joke and laugh then forget what was said or why it was funny.  Jon didn't like Idiocacity as much as I though he might, and I wanted to see that (it's very limited release from Mike Judge, creator of Office Space, oh and Beavis and Butthead and King of the Hill, well one outta three ain't bad.)

Lots of meetings, little time

Wow, haven't had time to watch much int he past few days, lots and lots of meetings and work to do.  Amazing amount of meetings this past week so I apologize for the late posts.

Nightmares and Dreamscapes - The Fifth Quarter - Pretty good episode where a guy gets out of jail and his old cellmate dies from a gunshot wound telling him a story about how he has 1/4 of 3.5 million dollars.  Then Willie goes on a rampage to avenge his friends death, and of course, get all the money.  Pretty cool ending too.

Nightmares and Dreamscapes - Autopsy Room Four - Was this a twighlight zone episode at one time?  I swear I've seen a very very similar story to this, or I read a similar story or something.  A guy is dead but not really dead and gets saved at the end on the autopsy room table.  If anyone knows where I've seen this, I'd be interested in hearing about it.

Eureka - Right as Raynes - Wow, robots, AI, Zoe has red hair!  This was a pretty decent episode, not bad at all.  Hopefully it'll continue more and more like this.

'Til Death - Pilot - EW calls this yet another Marriage has problems program from Fox.  Maybe it is, but I laughed a bit at the first episode, I tihnk a lot because I find Brad Garrett funny.  I'll see what's going on with this show over the next few weeks and determine if it has legs or not.

Pimp my Ride - So I watched 3 episodes of Pimp My Ride.  No need to review them seperatly, because they're always the same, but it's a decent .5 hour show with 10 minutes of intro about the car, 10 of what they'll do to the car and 10 of what the person thinks of the car when it's done.  More like 7, 7, and 7 because no commercials and everything, but still.

Mythbusters - Deadly Straw - The guys build a cannon that can shoot straw out at 320 miles an hour to try to send it through a palm tree.  Awesome, even though the myth was busted.  But they did send a piano wire through the tree, through a 1/2" sheet of plywood and embedded it into the concrete behind it.  The other team tried to see if plants had feelings, to some weird results but pretty much proved that they do not.

Real Time with Bill Maher - Penn Jilette is one of the guests and I always find him pretty funny.  Decent show though.

Dane Cook's Vicious Circle - The whole time I was watching Tourgasm, I was hoping for this show, which is just his 1.5 hour standup from start to finish.  Awesomely funny.

And the Eagle Game - Hell Yeah 1-0 to start the season.  McNabb looked pretty good, still throws at peoples feet too much.  I was very impressed by Stallworth he looked really good for only being here two weeks.  The defense looked good, the D-Line looked really good but the secondary needs some work. They got beat bad a few times, that's just not acceptable.  And Dallas losing means my two favorite teams won today.  The Eagles and whoever is playing Dallas.

Pretty light day

Prison Break - The thrid episode of Prison Break was okay, not as good as the first two.  I don't like how they're trying to keep Bellick in this season, he's not needed and I never really liked his character anyway.  He shoulda killed himself in the last one, now THAT would've been good TV.

The Brewing Network - 3/19 show - Yeah, I know this is old, but I listened to it anyway because it had lots of really good information about StarSan, a sanitizing chemical that I use during brewing.  Pretty cool show, actually, and I've added their new ones to my podcast list.

Geekdrome - Episode 41 - Dan didn't like Idlewild (the Outkast movie, but I might have the name slightly wrong.)  He liked Invincible, which I need to see, but I'll probably get the DVD.  There's a special guest host, an old friend of Jon and Dan who just got out of Ranger school.  He looks like he can kick my ass, but he's pretty funny.

Diggnation - Episode 61 - Diggnation is shot from the set of Tiki Bar Tv, which is fricken awesome.  Kevin still upset because he hasn't met Lala.  Also Kevin's computer tells him what time it is on the hour for some reason.  They're drinking Red Stripe, which isn't a bad beer.  Kevin explains trademarks and why they're important to make sure you're the only one using them.  Lala does show up and I really thought Kevin was going to fall over.  She's not very talkative, it seems like she doesn't want to be there.

Wow! Labor day weekend catchup

Crooks and Liars ยป Keith Olbermann Delivers One Hell Of a Commentary on Rumsfeld - Couldn't say it better myself

KFI Tech Guy - This is another Leo Laport podcast.  I've started listening to his podcasts at 1.25x original speed so I can get them all in.  This allows me to listen to 1 min 15 seconds of audio in 1 minute, which is pretty cool.  This isn't a bad show, some of the questions are a bit too basic, but for the most part they're pretty good and he has a higher than average tech crowd listening to an AM radio broadcast.

Geekbrief.tv might be my new favorite almost daily small clip vidcast.  Pretty funny, especially the outtakes, and the host is cute and bubbly which makes it even easier to watch.

Inked - Always in Fashion - Carey wants to have a fashion show and tries to let Murph plan it, but that doesn't go so well.  I liked this episode because they did a lot more tattooing in it than they have in the past few episodes, which was good because that's why I watch the show.  Pretty neat.

Prison Break - Otis - So Michael and Lincoln part ways with the rest of the escapees.  Then they do probably the dumbest thing possibe and try to break Lincoln's son out of jail, yeah, it was dumb.  Oh and how stupid is that girl who is going on a trip with Tweener?  Seriously, if you had a guy act like that, why the hell would you let that guy in the car with you?  We'll see what happens with that next week.

30 Days - Jail - Morgan goes to jail for 25 days (the average of 85% of a 30 days sentence.)  It was VERY disharting to see that the two friends he made while in jail were both arrested after they were let out.  One within 2 months and the other within 2 weeks.  There is something wrong with our prison system, but I don't have any answers as to how to fix it.

Nightmares and Dreamscapes - The End of the Whole Mess - I really enjoyed this episode.  It was set in the very near future, which is always pretty neat because you get to see possible things to happen to our society.  And I like the way it was done and the way the events unfolded for you.  The basic premise is that Ron Livingston (the Office Space dude) plays a guy who claims he has an hour to tell a story and by the first commercial break we learn he killed his brother.  The next 30 minutes show why he did so and what his brother did.  Pretty neat, but I didn't really like the ending, even knowing that it was probably going to be like that.

Blade - Hunters - This one was kinda neat because it had one storyline that started at the beginning of the episode and ended by the end which was neat.  Of course there wa some of the other backstory in this one too, which is good, but once in a while you need a break from all the big conspiracies.

Eureka - Blink - Carter need to find out what is going on in his small town when some people start moving extreemly fast and he figures out it is some kind of drug.  Pretty good episode, some funny low-tech meets high-tech moments which are pretty much par for the course in this show.  Its very enjoyable, though.

Inked - Crossing the Line - Dizzle pretends he's married and ends up loosing his apprenticeship to Twig because of it.  Dizzle is funny but, man is he fricken stupid.  Some pretty cool tattoos in this episode as well.

Mythbusters - Earthquake Machine - Jamie and Adam try to create a Earthquake Machine created by Tesla with a bit of success.  They get a 6 pound machine to actually move a bridge a little bit, which is pretty amazing.  And the second build team get to blow up lava lamps and other things on a kitchen stove, which is amazing.
